Wasp Nest

Fallen Wasp Nest

On our way back from our walk recently we discovered this wasp nest on our lawn. It apparently had fallen from a tree. The egg chambers are surrounded by paper-like layers, presumably to protect from sun and weather. We had never seen anything like this before, and hopefully, we won’t encounter any of its former occupants.

  1. We’re always finding wasps nests under the eaves of the house. Found a huge one inside the light fixture of one of the outside light cams on the back deck.. We ended up having to replace the entire light fixture. It was totally destroyed.. We don’t spend much time on that back deck so didn’t notice the little buggers coming on going as they built that nest.
