Super Crescent Moon

Waning crescent Moon and six inch refractor telescope that imaged the large crescent.

After an early morning imaging session with the six-inch refractor, a photo opportunity appeared, and I took the picture of the scope and Moon in the distance. Later the telescopic image of the Moon was emplaced over the upper image. In the distant past the Moon was much closer to Earth and appeared much larger, though probably not this large. Over time it has moved away due to tidal effects and will be much smaller in appearnce eons from now.

Did you spot the bright dot of Venus just below the large crescent?
