Tale of a Tail

The young squirrel made a mad dash directly into the path of a pickup truck, dodging back and forth between the wheels and then disappearing just ahead of the right rear tire. For an instant we thought it had met its demise but to our surprise, it scampered onto the grass and then up a tree, miraculously unscathed, or so we thought.

When we reached the site of the narrow escape, we found the tip of its tail on the edge of the road. Wow, that really was close! We will keep an eye out for that squirrel in the future; it shouldn’t be hard to identify.
