Two juvenile red-shouldered hawks in the birdbath were caught eyeing a bold squirrel racing up a tree just a few feet away. The video from which this still was captured shows several squirrels racing up, down, and between trees. The squirrels were quite aware of the young hawks and seemed to be playing their own version of “slapping the bull.” They may be getting away with it for now, but for how long?
