We see many birds in our neighbor hood including hawks, whistling ducks, ibises and more, but this is the first great egret we recall seeing on the ground here. Usually they are found close to water or swamps, hunting for food. Perhaps it thought the ibises were on to something; plenty of lizards, insects, and other food, but no alligators that might turn him into food. I don’t know, but it was another happy sighting during our morning meanderings.
