The thin crescent moon hovered low in the morning sky during our walk, with only two more days left to new moon. The past two months, this late phase has been hard to spot, but for the next couple of months it will be much more easily seen as it traces the path of the summer Sun through the sky. In four more days it appear on the other side of the Sun in the evening twilight very close to the planets Venus and Mars for a spectacular conjunction. Telescopic views of Venus will reveal a very interesting surprise.
