Florida’s Fall Colors

Beauty Berries

Autumn is coming to Florida as seen by the ripening of the beauty berry bush, much to the delight of the casual observer as well as the birds who are said to find the berries delicious. However, I seldom see the bushes stripped of these berries like what happens to the local blueberries, so maybe the birds don’t really like them all that much. People who have tried the berries say that they aren’t very tasty, so I think I’ll just pass.

The flowers appear in the spring and the berries ripen in the fall, and in keeping with the season, our morning low temperatures are supposed to drop down to the upper 60’s over the next few days. Wow! Winter is on its way.
