“How neat!” we couldn’t help exclaiming as we neared this feathered flock of not-quite-mature ibises. They seemed to be in the middle of a 50-meter mosey across the street to the next yard. We slowed the car to nearly a crawl, and they ambled over to the left side of the road to let us pass.
They were no more energetic when we returned about 15 minutes later and found them still huddled together and shuffling oddly about while getting nowhere. Though these juvenile birdbrains hadn’t yet figured out where they were going, they still were an amusing sight. Could it be that they simply were already where they wanted to be?
Perhaps an hour later they were still there, appearing as dazed and confused as ever. The only one that seemed to have its wits about it was flipping a small snake around and that was a sight I would been happy to miss.
