Beware the Smirking Cow

At Local Barbecue Restaurant

This painting by an unknown artist adorned a local restaurant wall and succeeded in making me just a little wary as I dined on brisket and cornbread. It seems to know something that no one else does. Is it smirking because it is a dairy cow rather than a beef cow? Perhaps it’s smug because most of the menu consists of porcine rather than bovine meat. Or worse, just perhaps it left a little extra “surprise” in the milk that it just provided for us. I don’t think I really want to know.
