Imagine a hard frost coating the windows in central Florida; actually I try not to. I remember past times of cold fingers, frozen whiskers, and frostbite on the bridge of my nose after a jog in -30 degrees one morning in Wyoming. One winter in Illinois I had to shovel snow off our roof three times to prevent the roof from collapsing. The second two times there was no need for a ladder, I could just walk up the pile of snow to get onto the roof.
On the other hand, as a kid, I remember the magic of snow and frost coating the woods along the Platte River, and the sizzling sounds of ice skates over its frozen surface. Also there snowmen, snow forts, and snowball fights that to my young mind were epic.
Fortunately, now most of the frost we see is simply frosted glass on our front windows, not the frozen kind. While some of our memories of winter bring warm memories, when it comes to snow and frost, we now prefer virtual over reality.
