A Sign of My Time

Along a street in Grand Cayman

The other day I was reading a news article about an “elderly” gentleman who had experienced some sort of difficulty related to his age. I should have stopped before I read how old he was. He was five years YOUNGER than I am. OMG, guess what that makes me! However, my wife and I do not walk stooped over or need a cane. When I am in a grocery store, I absolutely refuse to hunch over the handle of the cart as if I needed support, and if I ever do, I hope someone slaps me.

It is nice to be elderly without really feeling all that old and being able to exercise or walk on a daily basis. Though graceful aging means adapting to limitations as they occur, I will not be using a cane as long as I am able. (With apologies to the book of Genesis!)
