Well, it isn’t actually a road that the snail is crossing, its a well-used walking and bicycling trail, and moving at a “snail’s pace” puts it at risk from a rolling bike tire or an inattentive pedestrian. It’s nearly across, so it likely will survive this crossing, provided it doesn’t run out of mucous. Move along little snail.
