Cross My Heart and Hope to Fly

Lingering Contrails in the Morning Sky

I remember my dad telling of the first time he had ever seen an airplane in the sky over the plains of Nebraska. It was a strange and novel sight and inspired him to learn to fly, which he did in 1929. He shared his dreams of flight with the rest of us, but I doubt any of us could have imagined how busy the skies have become. Will this continue or will someday such a sight again become a rarity? I do not know, but I will always be enchanted when riding on the dreams of wings high above the ground and viewing the marvelous earth below.
