Facing the Flames

Fire Log

The hollow log burned briskly with warm orange flames flickering, ever changing into a myriad of forms. Suddenly a face seemed to appear; two eyes, nose, and face like an ethereal apparition gazing back at the spectators. Perhaps it was just a curious coincidence but had it been a spectral manifestation, it would have been a benevolent one, for the fun and fellowship continued unabated into the evening.
