Aw Shucks

Husked Sweet Corn–mmmm!

A visit to the local farmer’s market brought back happy memories of our childhood days on the farms where we grew up. The produce was almost as fresh as if we had picked it ourselves. Once back home we quickly husked the ears in anticipation of a delightful meal; or did we shuck them?

I was curious as to which term was more applicable, and a quick internet search revealed that mostly the terms are interchangeable. However, one site insisted that shucking and husking were technically different, but then used essentially the same words to define each in such an odd way that it was impossible to tell which was which. Was this courtesy of artificial intelligence or just natural stupidity? Thus perished my inquiring mind.

Fortunately, I didn’t have to worry about stupid definitions. I grew up a Nebraska cornhusker, and well shucks, I just grabbed the corn and husked it!
