A dead tree provides life-giving nourishment to this piliated woodpecker. Obviously this isn’t the first time at this tree. The bird alternately listened and pecked here and there, frequently finding morsels of food. It slowly moved about the tree, adding to the pock marks left by other woodpeckers plundering the wood for meals.
