There were strange flurries visible outside the window so I had to go investigate. A red-shouldered hawk had perched on the birdfeeder, and a mockingbird had become fed up with it. After several passes from different directions the mockingbird zeroed on the seat of its problem. After a quick lick to the hawk’s derriere, the hawk had had enough and took to flight as its nemesis exited quickly in a different direction. Though birdy words were exchanged, in the end, I think they were both happy to have their problems behind them.
PS–The blurry form to the left of the hawk in both pictures is the mockingbird attacking and then retreating.
