Happy May Day, Lei Day

Lei for the Day

Happy May Day! May first marks the halfway mark between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. In past times many considered it the first day of summer. Here in Florida, it seems so as well. The bright spring green colors have softened in anticipation of summer’s heat which is just around the corner.

In the meantime, in Hawaii this is lei day. Various islands have their own featured flowers to string into leis in celebration of a spirit of aloha as sweet as the flowers’ fragrance.
