Pineapple Lonely

Solitary Pineapple in Our Back Yard

The pineapple patch was pruned and replanted two years ago, and as expected this year we have a pineapple, but only on one plant. They usually start producing within two years of planting, as this one did. However, the eleven others didn’t bother this year, and we don’t know why.

We will keep good company with this lonely little pineapple until it gets ripe and then, of course, we will eat it. Hmm, a little gruesome perhaps, but not as bad as it sounds. We’ll save the green, leafy top, plant it, and in a couple of years another pineapple will appear; we hope. And next time around, it most certainly will have other fruity companions to keep it company.
