A few years ago we spent some time at Flagler Beach, Florida. One morning we arose to discover that a turtle had laid her eggs in the beach during the night. The nest had been marked by conservation volunteers, and we kept a respectful distance from it. While these tracks were eventually erased by winds and waves, their presence lingers in the form of the new life that emerged after the appropriate incubation period. The young that survive to adulthood will someday return to deposit their eggs in the sand and repeat the cycle as their species has for eons before we ever came on the scene. May that cycle continue to be repeated for eons to come.
