Orion Rising

Orion Partly Veiled
Orion Rising
by: Howard Eskildsen

Lying sidewise neath clouds in the morning sky
Betelgeuse and Rigel meet the eye
With three stars crossing in between
A glorious sight that is rarely seen
As twilight grows and stars fade away
Another stellar memory starts the day

Along with Orion’s spectacular rise
Comes a sure sign of summer’s soon demise
Later and later will rise the sun
And soon life’s autumn will have begun
The simple question is what may it portend
Does it mark a beginning or is it in fact
the end
