It’s not that far off; Halloween is about seven weeks away. Already, a Harvest Moon has been seen lurking low in the west; casting its golden glow through the trees before dawn. Next will come the Hunter’s Moon, followed by the spooky eve before All Saints’ Day, also known as All Hallows’ Day.
No, I’m not really afraid of ghosts or hauntings; there is plenty else in the land of the living to dread. But Halloween is one of my favorite holidays dating back to when I was a child. See: https://eskildoodle.com/halloween/. It is fun to imagine those who lived before and what what lessons can be learned from their lifetimes. Also, knowing that eventually we shall all go the same way, Halloween provides a way to symbolically stick out our tongues and make donkey ears at the inevitable.
