A few days ago, this metal arachnid-like contraption carefully tread its way through the yard and between trees at the back of the yard. It held its “legs” close to its carcass to maximize its maneuverability until it was in the desired location. Then the legs extended outward to brace and stabilize the lift. The skilled operator in the cage at the end of the lift carefully raised himself to the proper height and position to remove overhanging limbs, and, finally, the tree trunk that jeopardized structures below.
It was amazing to watch his flawless work high above the ground as he secured limbs to ropes, them cut them off so crew could lower them to the ground. His maneuvering in, around and above obstacles resembled a three dimensional chess match, which he played to perfection. Wow! What a real spiderman!
