Morning Dew

Camellia with Morning Dew

This camellia blossom stood out from the rest, and I just had to photograph it. Then I noticed droplets of dew under the petals, and it reminded me of the Hawaiian song, “E Ku’u Morning Dew,” which means “my beloved morning dew.” The first verse with English interpretation is:

E ku'u morning dew My beloved morning dew
Alia mai, alia mai Wait a moment
Maliu mai 'oe Pay attention
E kali mai 'oe Wait
Ia'u nei, ia'u nei For me, for me
'O wau iho no To remain yours (forever)
Me ke aloha With love

The photo and the song brought to mind how wonderful it is to wake up in the morning next to the one you love.

E Ku’u Morning Dew was written by Larry Kimura.
