Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

Going, Going…

During the recent cold spell, the bird food seemed to melt away, even in the freezing weather. It had been filled just the day before and by the next afternoon, it was nearly all gone. I have heard that birds need a lot of food to fuel their feathery furnaces just to keep from freezing during inclement weather; now I am a believer. Of course, I do think that some of the cowbirds on the lower two photos did make pigs of themselves.

  1. Stellar Jay’s are the worst pigs   Not sure about your Blue Jay’s. The Fox Sparrow is a bit piggy as well. I love the Black-capped and Mountain Chickadees that swoop in getting one seed and disappear. Also love the Red-breasted Nuthaches.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
