Venus and Moon

Saturday Evening

The evening before last, Venus and the crescent moon sparkled together in the twilight. Venus, the “evening star,” is also at crescent phase when seen through a telescope. The last opportunity this year to see this pair so close together in the evening sky will occur on March 1, 2025. After that, Venus will plunge closer and closer to western the horizon each evening, until it disappears from the evening sky three weeks later. Shortly thereafter it will become visible in the morning sky, slowly rising in the east before sunrise to become the “morning star.”
