Cypress Knees at Silver Springs State Park, Florida
The so-called cypress knees are projections from the roots of the cypress trees. Many explanations have been offered as to their purpose, but no one really knows why cypress trees have them. Still they are fun to observe, and I am just glad some other living thing has knees that are knobbier than mine.
