Forget coming out of his shell, this tortoise refused to even come out of his burrow. At least it allowed us to approach without retreating out of view. Once upon a time they were considered a source of food and their numbers dwindled, but now they are protected and are flourishing, which is fine with me. I am content to just feast my eyes on this fascinating creature.
