Heiva is an annual Polynesian cultural event and competition that connects with traditions a thousand years old. It features ‘Ori Tahiti, (music and dance), Hemini (singing), and other competitions, including Heiva Va’a (canoe racing). Bora Bora is reputed to have the best Heiva celebration, and we have been thrilled by the music, dance, and pagents.
The photo was taken during the floral floats and music competition featuring floats expressing cultural themes and decorated with local foliage. Singers, accompanied by ukuleles and drums, came along with the floats and performed beautifulTahitian songs. It was a wondrous meeting of sight, sound, and spirit as the pageant unfolded across the arena.
