In this setting those words refer to something sweet, not something grim. The “heads” of the pineapples have been removed so that the fruit can be cut into edible chunks, and the head will be planted to grow into new plants that will one day produce more delicious fruit whose heads will be removed to repeat the cycle. Long live the pineapple!
