The heads of the pineapples we ate over the past several days are now planted in the ground in our backyard along with more mature plants that produced the fruit that we enjoyed. It will take two years for the youngsters to bear fruit, but the older plants will likely provide more sweet treats next year. Watching them all develop and grow is nearly as enjoyable as the pineapple fruit itself. They’re like family.
