Hundreds of millions of gallons of water burst forth daily from springs at the head of Florida’s Silver River and gently flow through forested lands teeming with life. During a recent boat tour there, we enjoyed the birds, turtles, alligators, fish, and flora so abundant along its shores and in the water. This particular day we were graced by the presence of two gentle manatees drifting under the water in the slow-moving stream and occasionally raising their heads to the surface to breathe.
It was the first time that we had seen these creatures on the Silver River and they were the crowning glory of a delightful day.
