Marine Fossils Upon Dry Land

A light-colored rock along the forest path with its fossil shells told of a time when the world was different place. Remnants of a beach where marine life thrived in warm, shallow waters lay beneath the roots of trees and vegetation on what is now dry land. It is a curious feeling to look through time’s windows, set in stone, which allow us to see glimpses of a past that existed long before the world as we see it today came into being. From the perspective of our limited lifetimes, the forest had seemed to have been there “forever.”
