Mountain bike trails in Florida–ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! This sign was along a greenway that is so flat that it was once considered a good location for a canal all the way across Florida, and the nearest mountain is over 350 miles away. I did notice a slight rise while walking along the paved trail that this one crossed, but the elevation change was much less than that of the overpass that I used to pretend was a mountain when I was a child living in Nebraska.
Perhaps that’s the secret: Pretending can ease the disappointment when you can’t have what you most desire. And that’s not all bad, especially for your inner child.
