Planetary Trifecta

Venus at Sunset

As yesterday came to a close, planets in the western sky gradually appeared one by one. In this photo Venus rests in the orange glow just above a rooftop. Several minutes later, Saturn came into view near the wispy clouds just below the branches in the upper part of the photo. Finally, as the twilight darkened, the elusive Mercury appeared near the branches of the tree on the right.

On Saturday, February 28, 2026, Mercury will appear next to Venus half an hour after sunset, and Saturn will be visible above the pair. They will be a subtle, sparkling trio in the evening sky for curious eye. A good pair of binoculars can aid in finding the planets after the sun has set.
