Rock “Staring” at Us Along Trail

A strange, stony face appeared to be watching as we passed by on trail. Creepy! A closer look, however revealed that the “eyes” were fossil seashells, which also accented the “nose” and “mouth.” While the brain wanted to see a face, the components were fossils from a time when nothing could have imagined that creatures like us would ever roam the earth.
