Ant Traps

The doodlebug larvae, aka antlions, are back and have set their traps in waiting for hapless ants to fall into and become a meal. These larvae may wait in their pits for days for meal, and it could take months to ingest enough ants to grow into the lacy-winged adult fly that is sometimes mistaken for a damselfly or a dragonfly.

They must have a great deal of patience to wait so long for their food to randomly walk by; I know that I would get rather antsy!
