“Down in Front” read the 2011 National Geographic website that featured my photo of a sunspot with a jetliner passing through. I image the Sun every day that time and weather allow and have sent nearly 7,000 images of old Sol to the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers. This was the first time that I had captured a close up of the Sun with a plane passing through, and was delighted when contacted by National Geographic for permission to use this photo on their website.
