Duck, Duck, Go Boat

Duck Boat Splashing Back Into the Water

The amphibious boat was manufactured in 1943 and carried troops and supplies over water and land into war in the Pacific. Later, it was sold as surplus and bought by Original Wisconsin Ducks, which has restored and maintained it to carry passengers over trails and through waters of the Wisconsin River and Lake Denton.

Nineteen of our family members eagerly boarded to enjoy the rumbling, raucous, and splashing ride through forest, river, and lake. Deer, wild turkeys, and birds added to the fascination, as did the corny jokes from our driver. We were sad to see it end, but were grateful to have survived unscathed, still 19 in number, and mostly dry.
