This photo was taken through the window of our car as we passed by this doe while we were on vacation in Wisconsin. We saw many deer, some with developing antlers, several small fawns with spots, and of course this doe. While pretty to look at, they seemed to have trouble determining which side of the road they wanted to be on as cars approached. Sometimes they darted onto the road, sometimes they darted across the road, and other times they watched warily by the side. The tricky part for the driver was to avoiding turning them into a hood ornament.
Sadly there are a lot of deer that are hit on the road. We see deer all the time on our way to my brother’s cabin in the Blues. We certainly know to keep an eagle eye out on the road.

Stay vigilant. Johnny Carson once interviewed an avid hunter who said that if deer weren’t hunted to control their numbers, people would just get ‘em with their cars. He asked Johnny if they hunted were he lived at the time and Johnny replied: No we just get ‘em with our cars…
