Ordinarily a rainbow is a delight to see, but not when we are on our morning walk and more than a mile from home. Where there are bows, there is rain, and we were on foot. Fortunately, the rain was light and we quickly dried out, but the beauty of the rainbow lingers in our minds, so it was more than worth it.
Later in the day we discovered that this rainbow appeared just hours after the double rainbow appeared over Buckingham Palace near the time of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Both were rare apparitions and seemed a fitting coincidence in honor of the Queen.
