Straw-buried

Strawberry Shortcake at Plant City, Florida

The strawberries are in season, so we went to Plant City, Florida, for our annual shortcake dessert. The strawberries were not quite fully ripened, however, so they lacked some of their usual great taste. Fortunately, the shortcake and ice cream made it better, and of course it did help that the berries were buried in whipped cream.

In a couple of weeks we will visit a local vendor to find some fully ripened fruit that can be frozen to enjoy for months to come. Then, atop of Fairy’s famous homemade shortcake, they will no longer need to be buried in whipped cream to be enjoyed.
