More affectionately known as Lu instead of his given name Lucifer, this 63 year old hippo is officially an honorary citizen of Florida per decree of a former Florida governor. He has been at this state park for decades and enjoys notoriety as a primary park attraction but also as a beast to be avoided when he starts shaking his tail. When that happens, a brown shower is about to follow for tens of feet beyond his backside. When you see that happening hurry away with your friends, because you definitely do not want to be left behind.
In a past visit I witnessed one of his tail shaking power-poo events. Afterwards he looked around and uttered four coarse, deep grunts that sounded like hippo laughter. I think he was proud of himself. Maybe Lucifer is a good name for him after all.
