“The Data Is In The Strata,” read one geology-themed T-shirt in a gift shop in Ketchikan that we visited a couple of weeks ago. I was delighted until I found out that that they had run out my shirt size. So then I picked “Ages of Rock,” but again all they had left was small and XXL! There was good news however; the clerk volunteered to send me the website address https://whatdidyoubringme.com/ so that I could order my size T-shirt directly from the vendor.
Wow! In addition to the science/geology shirts, the site has many other similar, natural history themed shirts, and offers hats, bags, magnets, and other items as well. I’m still browsing and dreaming, after all I need to nuture the inner naturalist.
While viewing the photo above, I couldn’t help thinking: Look at those two old fossils! I don’t mind one bit; I treasure the memories of the many past adventures and know that there are still more to come. Being my age really does rock as I contemplate how I have contributed to the “data in the strata” through the years.
PS The fossils are knightia fish from the Green River formation in southwestern Wyoming and were discovered by a friend about 10 miles from where we lived for eight years.
