Honestly, Spider!

Banana Spider in its web.

“Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to decieve;” Sir Walter Scott.

So is this web tangled, or perhaps just a little slipshod? Is it deceptive or merely messy? The lower half, illuminated by the morning sun, appears to be of a different design than the shaded, upper right quadrant of the web. Maybe a passing bird accidently tore part of the original web away and the spider did its best to patch things up, kind of like my mom darning socks when I was little. (Yes, we really were that poor. )

Regardless, I would dread to be a fly to be caught in such a web, or even as a human have the big old spider leap down on my head or neck. Honestly, tangled or not, I want no parts of this web or its occupant.
