Fairy Stone

A special concretion known as a Fairy Stone.

Once upon a time this fairy stone was buried, soft sediment that was hardened by crystalization of calcium carbonate to form a “concretion.” Such strange words aside, it just means that silt, mud, or something else was transformed over time into a beautiful and captivating form.

Fairy stones come in a myriad of curious shapes, but this particular stone seems to have taken a kind and nuturing human form which is only appropriate, and is why I purchased it in a store in Anchorage, Alaska. It is a fitting symbol of the Fairy that I have come to love and know so well.
