For the third time since I became a member of the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observservers (ALPO), I have a photo on the cover of their publication, The Strolling Astronomer. Mine is the lower, purple, calcium-K light image showing a sunspot so large that it was visible through a solar filter without a telescope. The red, upper image was a photo of the same sunspot that was taken in hydrogen alpha light by Theo Ramakers.
Each photo shows the atmosphere of the Sun at different levels. Theo took images in both colors as did I, and the editor decided to honor us both by using one image from each of us. I like that; we have both taken many thousands of photos of the sun for ALPO, and I am honored that we are represented together on this cover.

That’s neat. Congratulations.
