Flights of Mind

Family and Airplane on Nebraska Farm Field

Cool air, gray skies, and the sound of an airplane flying overhead brought back memories of holidays from my childhood. Nearly always an airplane was involved, usually one that Dad had built or restored. They took us to heights and places above and beyond what we could ever have imagined, and it didn’t really matter if we were flying cross country or just circling the farm and the river. As soon as the wheels left the ground, we were already where we wanted to be.

PS-The airplane is a two-seat Taylorcraft, Model BL-65, NC33932, and the photo was taken around 1950. The plane was last registered as airworthy in 2011. Later that year it was exported to Australia and whereabouts is currently unknown.
