Ibises tolerate humans fairly well and are actually are quite cute once you get past their funny-looking beaks. There is a limit, however, to how closely they want to associate with people. They do keep a wary eye and walk away if we get too close, so we always maintain a respectful distance. We also keep a wary eye since they sometimes leave large puddles of droppings that we prefer not to step in. We refer to such deposits as “ibish.”
