That Trick Was No Treat

How we feel after Milton blew through.

The storm has passed. What a trick! We had much it better here in Ocala than farther south. Our maximum wind was on the order of 30 mph gusting to around 55 mph; not that bad. Our rain gauge topped at 5″ and we don’t know how much more we got, but the pool was full, and I had drained it to normal levels twice. No damage occurred to the house, and we didn’t have flooding here, but the yard was littered with branches and other tree debris.

A section of roof gutter screen was on our driveway, but the gutter was intact. About three houses away, half of a large of tree fell onto another tree leaving both scattered all over their yard. Also, two other trees went down by the entrance to our development.

Electricity went off about 10:15 PM last night, and we had no internet access until moments ago. Fortunately, our whole house generator is working well, so our house is up and running, except…

Alas! We are without water! I imagine that some “slow men working” broke a main while trying to get the electricity or some other service back online. After spending all day out in the yard cleaning up, I really wanted a nice warm shower. Instead I took a dip in a 76 degree pool. It worked. Also, the pool is now the source of water to flush our commode.

Fortunately, we have plenty of wine, (and some water) for drinking. I was thankful for the pool, no way would I use wine for bathing; that would be no treat!

Wait! I think the electricity just came back on. YAY! Now for the water…
